Disturbing The Peace/Def Jam rapper Ludacris claims the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 with his latest album “Battle of The Sexes” for this week.
The “How Low” rapper’s seventh studio album debut at #1, selling over 137,000 copies. “Battle of the Sexes” tops his previous album “Theater of the Mind” which peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 in 2008. Ludacris’ “Battle of the Sexes” becomes his fourth #1 album for Ludacris with previous albums “Chicken and Beer,” “The Red Light District,” and “Release Therapy.” In addition, “Battle of The Sexes” becomes the first rap album to debut at #1 since Jay-Z’s “The Blueprint 3″ in September 2009.
Legendary singer/songwriter Sade’s “Soldier of Love” still remains on the top 10 at #6 selling 52,000 copies. Lady Gaga’s “The Fame” goes down one slot to #8 selling 48,000 copies. The Black Eyed Peas also take a fall, landing at #9 with The E.N.D selling 46,000 copies.

Its the end of the week of December 10, and the album sales have finally come in. And by the looks of it Susan Boyle, is still the reigning champ. The British Idol still manages to top the Billboard 200 with her debut album “I Dreamed A Dream,” moving another 500,000 into Platinum status in addition to debuting with 700,000 copies last week. King of R&B R. Kelly’s first LP since “Double Up” in 2007, titled “Untitled” debuted at #4 on The Billboard 200, selling 110,000 copies in its first week. R. Kelly’s “Untitled” features collaborations from Keri Hilson, OJ Da Juiceman, Tyrese, and The Dream. However, “Fame Monster” Lady Gaga still keeps the momentum with her latest at #5 with 84,000 copies. “Hard” artist Rihanna falls down to #14 with her fourth album “Rated R,” and 50 Cent’s “Before I Self Destruct” album featuring “Do You Think About Me” with 30,000 copies to #35. With the year 2009 almost to a close, album sales of the 4th quarter, featuring the biggest artists have again surfaced this week, and the top 5 slots on The Billboard 200 chart according re filled with artists Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Susan Boyle. Surprisingly the biggest debut from a female artist since former Universal artist Ashanti, British Idol singer Susan Boyle’s album “I Dreamed A Dream” landed the top spot on the Billboard charts selling over 701,000 copies in its first week of release.
