About the Feed
It’s more than just news and photos. It’s more than just content and videos. It’s The Urban Feed, feeding you the latest on news, music, fashion and entertainment. What you’ll find in our magazine is the quality that lacks in others. We take pride in not being your typical magazine, for we are “not the average!” The Urban Feed was created in fall of 2008 when two heavy hitters in the world of entertainment joined forces to create a form of media that would challenge the norms of the traditional magazine. It would be classified as real rather than commercial. It would be to the magazine world what the USA Today was for the newspaper industry. It will bring originality back into entertainment and it will be thought of not as just a magazine but rather as a movement.
The History
Andrew Asare and Ke’Andrea “Kiki” Ayers founded The Urban Feed in 2008 after they met at Howard University in Washington, DC through a school organization called Endustry Power Players (EPP). Eager to launch the magazine, they got started right away researching local artists and conducting interviews & photo shoots on campus. The magazine was named Direct Magazine before Asare came up with the name The Urban Feed, which would better describe the idea behind the magazine. The two launched the website online on October 9, 2009 and have interviewed everyone from Melyssa Ford and Mya to Mims and Gina Rivera. Today, The Urban Feed continues its success. It started as a vision and lives through a dream. The Urban Feed…not the average!
